As 2012 looms closer and 2011 fades into the past, a whole new bunch of games are hitting store shelves, but 2011 isn’t quite finished yet and is providing us with an array of games. Recently released is the fantastic Gears of War 3 which completes one of the most memorable gaming trilogies of this generation. Players take the role of the ‘COGS’ who have the unenviable task of saving the world from the locust threat. The storyline is an immersing one combined with great gameplay, making this game a must-buy. Slipping under the radar is the undisputed king of the combat flight simulator genre, the new Ace Combat game that is Assault Horizon. If you are into your flight simulators then look no further than this game. It gained a very respectable 87% from the reputable Games master Magazine. The game itself has a huge variety of aircraft to fly, and it also contains a unique feature entitled ‘dogfight mode’. In this part of the game the actual flying part is automated which leaves you enough time to concentrate on shooting the enemy. Many were worried about the introduction of helicopters to the series, but they have been implemented surprisingly well, even offering a new dimension and a break from the monotony of flying planes. We have also been blessed with the release of a new FIFA game. FIFA 12 is similar to previous FIFA releases but is undoubtedly better. Many fans have been complaining about the new defending system which makes players time there tackles better and removes the option of just holding down the pressure button and expecting the computer to win the ball back for you. In contrast to this the new Pro Evolution Soccer has been released and scored a measly 79% in October’s edition of Games Master. Just as FIFA it is more of the same, however in Pro Evo’s case this isn’t a good thing. Sloppy gameplay and poor referee programming mean games more often frustrate than delight. And as for the unlicensed teams, the public can be extremely fickle and one of the main reasons they enjoy playing football games is that they want to play as their team and with their favourite players, something that Pro Evo cannot offer them. So it looks like you have plenty of games left to enjoy before the end of the year comes around. So start saving, or at least make sure that you put them on your Christmas list! Head online to buy computer games and check out some of the new PS3 games on offer.
