If you are just starting to look at the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) as an alternative to traditional POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service), your home or office, you will be hit with all new technical terms and industry jargon. It gives priority to traffic control standard traffic over the network via a voice call. Standard traffic may be thought of as a text, e-mail or other low-priority, non-time sensitive traffic. SIP - Session Initiation Protocol to control the VoIP traffic is transmitted and routed through the broadband network. In simple terms, a SIP session (phone call), the standard by which initiated and stopped (the handset). VoIP phone - a phone that is designed specifically for use with VoIP service. It has both functions of the phone in its basic design, but all the phone adapter included in the adoption of a single function, built-in VoIP device. Softphone - This is actually a misleading term that is definitely not the phone.
