EMT training courses have long been delivered in a traditional face-to-face and brick and mortar fashion. This means that individuals that would like to attend an EMT training course would have to travel to a school and sit in a classroom for the required time then drive home again. It is a very rigid schedule with no flexibility. EMT training courses require 100% attendance to be able to graduate. So you can see how this could be a problem for the typical student who works full time. There are pro’s and cons to this type of environment. With the cost of fuel today this can add hundreds of dollars to the cost of the EMT training course. So, are there alternatives? The US Department of Education has said that online education is the fastest growing market for students attending colleges and certificate programs. This is a new approach for EMS programs, they have been delivered in a traditional manner for so many years that there is a reluctancy to change. Most instructors have risen through the ranks and have continued to teach in the same methodology that they have in the past.
