PART 8 IS THE WAY OF COURTSHIP GOD’S PATHWAY TO PERFECT MARRIAGE? WHAT IS MARRIAGE? Marriage is a divine institution ordained by God. Like every other institution natural or spiritual, marriage has rules, principles, regulations and much more pre-requisite conditions laid down for those who are willing to get into it according to the will of God. For a successful, prosperous and happy marriage, we have to walk in absolute obedience to the teachings of the Word of God and in accordance to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Those who practically follow the steps in the scriptures are highly favored of God. The scripture states in Proverb 18:22, that Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the LORD. In getting into God’s kind of marriage, one must be ready to take up an added responsibility and the care that goes along with the joy of having a home and a family. Many believers want too much but are not ready to be committed to the vows of marriage. God does not see marriage as a light matter. It is described as a great mystery therefore we should ensure that we take our time to understudy and fulfill the pre-requisite conditions in order to make it into God’s Perfect Will. God intended marriage for joy, happiness and harmony if we can follow His principles step by step. Whenever God plants a good seed, the devil comes around and plants his tares. This is the hour for the true seed to be separated from the tares while the tares are gathered for burning. The scripture in Matthew 13:24-30 states: Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servant said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Matthew 13:24-30 KJV Marriage is like a seed that is sown by Christ. Jesus Christ remains the Lord of the field, the sower and the Lord of the harvest of the good seed in marriage. The good seed are the children of the kingdom; the true believers. The tares are the children of the wicked one. The enemy that sowed those tares is the devil. While men slept, Satan went and sowed a transition phase named courtship. Whenever Satan is doing the greatest mischief, he studies the situation carefully to conceal himself. The Word of God is divided into three dimensions so also marriage: the Natural dimension, the Spiritual dimension and the Fullness of the Word of God. The Natural dimension is the Logos or the Letter of the Word while the Spiritual dimension is the Rhema and speaks of the Revelation knowledge of God’s Word. The Fullness of the Word applies to one who is not a mere hearer but a doer of the Word; that is, the Word has become flesh in him. He is walking in the Spirit Naturally. In the same vein, marriage ceremonies are divided into three main types. The Traditional and the Court marriages are of the Natural dimension while the Christian marriage is of the Spiritual dimension. The Fullness of the marriage ceremony is when the man crowns his virtuous wife with glory and gifts while her children praises her. Her children rise up and call her blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied); and her husband boasts of and praises her, [saying], Many daughters have done virtuously, nobly, and well [with the strength of character that is steadfast in goodness], but you excel them all. Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is vain [because it is not lasting], but a woman who reverently and worship- fully fears the Lord, she shall be praised! Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates [of the city] Proverb 31: 28-31 AMPLV This is a type and shadow of the Great Mystery in marriage between Jesus Christ and the Church when we shall be given crowns of glory and shall be rewarded according to our works in His service. In every perfect deal, these three dimensions; the Natural, the Spiritual and the Fullness must be fulfilled. In order to fully appreciate the essence and mystery of perfect marriage thus fulfilling all righteousness we must fulfill these three dimensions. WHAT IS COURTSHIP? This is a period a man and woman having reached the flower of their ages in maturity found themselves mutually attracted to each other, thus getting intimately acquainted of wooing the affection and of being won and thus drawn to one another. The false and unscriptural thinking of the years in most metropolitan cities have given rise to, and lead youths into necking, petting, hugs, hot kisses and fondling all in the name of being in courtship. Necking and petting or hugs is a way of stimulating the partner’s body in-order to make him or her get aroused for sexual intercourse. The scripture has made it plain that a man should not touch a woman. In defiance of this command one gets aroused into lust and to commit adultery. The bible states in I Corinthians 7:1-4 NOW CONCERNING the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Petting during courtship is a perversion of true love and should be likened to an animal sex desire. It is an unholy and dangerous practice that subject man to the nature of a beast. The concept of courtship is the devil’s insertion to the process of marriage in-order to destroy the home before it is built. Someone asked, “How can I marry a woman I don’t even know?” This is why it is a great mystery: the reason is that right from the Beginning Adam never had an input nor choice in this business. Neither Isaac nor Jesus to crown it all had a choice in this business. Jesus said in John 17:6, 10, 12 to His Father: I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. John 17:6 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. John 17:10 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be ful-filled. John 17:12 No man can understudy another man; a man cannot understudy to know who a woman is or vice versa except the Spirit of God. Roman 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Roman 8:26-27KJV If a man decides to court for twenty years or more, he will not be able to understand the woman. The Holy Spirit was there when God created the man and the woman. He knows the nature of the man’s past, present and future. So we should be in total submission to the Holy Spirit to lead us to get and accept the choice of God for He will not make mistakes but will bring the bone of our bones and the flesh of our flesh to us.
