Statistics have shown that quite a few people are injured every year from slipping on stairs. The stairs get wet from rain or snow and ice and people are sometimes not very careful. Sometimes people, themselves, drip liquids on them and slip from that also. Outdoor stair treads are one of the answers to help secure the footing on these steps. Stair treads come in many different types and materials. There are those rubber ones that will affix quite easily with large staples or nails. These will, usually, be impervious to chemicals and, of course, the rain and other liquids will run off. The rubber ones come in several different colors so they will fit into any area's decor. For those that need a little homier look, there are carpet treads that can be mounted there. These come in all the different colors that carpets come in. Some of them are simply carpet scraps, anyway. Care should be taken to ensure they do not get mildew if they are in rain much of the time. A bit of care should be paid when attaching any kind of tread to outdoor steps that other people can walk on. The legal requirements for safety may cause you to use certain materials for this purpose. Be sure to follow these guidelines. The main reason for them is the need for safety for people you do not know. The main purpose for these safety items are for the protection of you and your family as they go about their business. This is not to say that you cannot make these a pretty addition to your home. The many colors and designs available will go a long way in sprucing up the steps everyone uses. Outdoor stair treads are something that should be looked at with safety in mind. The average person will trip on the average stair several times per year. Do not allow one of those trips to be at your home or business.
