So we are well into November. The clocks have gone back (remember Spring forward, Fall back) and Remembrance Sunday is just past. One of our team, last weekend, attended an outdoor service at the local war memorial near to her home. Whether by design (we hope so) or circumstance the planes that usually roar overhead were nowhere to be seen and as 11 o’clock struck and the officials stopped the traffic on the busy south circular there was a perfect silence on a cold clear day. A still moment when the younger attendees, of whom there were many, would have thought more naturally of the victims of Afghanistan or Iraq but the older contingent would still be remembering uncles or perhaps grandfathers who fought in the World Wars. The march past, with a small group of local veterans (eye’s right) was as moving as the long parade at the Cenotaph – perhaps even more so because these men are neighbours, briefly seen in a different context as they lined up and marched, straightened up as their long ago training kicked in. In the mobility business we are very conscious of the impact that injuries have – whether sustained in war, accidents or through health conditions and this time of the year strengthens our commitment to provide the best possible service we can.
