First Choice is a retail electric provider in Texas, while Altura a subsidiary of PNM Resources operates the Twin Oaks coal-fired power plant. The company also owns a 50% share of Optim Energy (formerly EnergyCo, LLC), an energy joint venture with a subsidiary of Cascade Investment, L.L.C. In July 2007, Altura was sold to Optim Energy.
