Chinese fortune telling has a very long history. The ancient writings of writings of Li Hsu-Chung formed the basis of much of the earliest recorded divination that took place in China over two thousand years ago. Li Hsu-Chung wrote up horoscopes that used the five elements, the twelve earthly branches and the ten stems of the heavens. To read someone’s fortune this system also relied on knowing a person’s exact birth date. This is often the form of Chinese divination that people still think of today. There are a number of fun websites, for example, where you can simply type in your birthday and receive a “reading”. In reality, however, this does the ancient Chinese wisdom a great disservice. The Chinese have also become famous for a particular form of fortune telling involving the reading and interpretation of the features of an individual’s face. This method is known as physiognomy. The concept of this method is that the mouth, nose, eyes and ears along with the cheeks, forehead, chin and eyebrows along with the chin correspond with the sacred rivers, mountains, planets and stars. Features of the body relate to the eternal truths of the universe and the correspondence can be used to tell of future events. Good or bad luck can be foretold as can more specific things such as lifespan, success in marriage and how many children someone will have. It is perhaps the I Ching, however, that most people think of when they think of Chinese fortune telling. The I Ching is an ancient book that was consulted for many diverse purposes. It was used in matters of state, to make choices concerned with warfare and also was consulted on a more personal level for the telling of an individual’s fortune. Using the I Ching on a personal level is not about finding out about the future in a specific way. People would not expect specific events to be prophesised. According to the I Ching the future is not fixed fixed, but is in a state of flux. Chinese tradition relates this state of flux to the seasons of the year. The I Ching shows that the future is cyclical and can be interacted with and affected by our actions in the here and now. It can show what might happen if particular decisions are made or if particular states of mind are not altered. It is seen as a book of guidance that can provide access to great wisdom. Sometimes the result will be that people are shown to change their life course in order for things to turn out for the best even if that does not seem the best path to take. Knowledge gained from the I Ching can allow decisions to be made with wisdom and foresight rather than just instinct and immediate needs. psychics psychic reading psychic reading psychics psychic reading psychics psychic readings psychic reading psychic reading phone psychic reading psychic reading psychic reading psychics psychics psychic reading psychic readings site psychic reading psychic reading psychics psychic readings psychic online phone psychic reading phone psychic reading mediums psychic reading
