Let’s think why DELL is choosing Windows 7 and/or Other Microsoft platforms for the products and not developing its own one. The answer is simple: Dell wishes to use stable, modern and easy updatable platform on their products. And their strategy is very reasonable – ask yourself: would you reinvent the wheel? There are a lot of customers who wanted to feel benefits of new Windows 7 with their Dell computers now feel its drawbacks. Loads of complaint is sent on Dell’s official website. Customers reported about problems on the process of registering a new PC and signing up for the free Dell Windows 7 Upgrade. Before the occurred problem Dell announced that PCs that was bought after the 29th of June 2009 will get a free update when Microsoft's newest operating system appears in October. Customer, who bought their PC from Best Buy and MicroCenter retailers after the mentioned date reported some problems about the registered date of purchase. The purchase has date much earlier than it was bought in reality. In case, the date appears week or sometimes even months earlier. Also, customers who didn’t have problems with date have another problem of getting registering to get this free upgrade. One lady followed all the instructions but couldn’t get this Windows 7 upgrade. But the problem didn’t limited by this. Each time she opened her laptop the message with a possibility of free upgrade appeared. She was trying to do it again and but story repeated. One customer from Florida, Richard Lurton, who ordered a Dell notebook, was a “permanent client” with Dell customer service, and only was told that a date of a retailer purchase of a computer is matter. But as we find out later it wasn’t a matter in this case. Best Buy was trying to resolve a problem and in doing so a retailer left a message on their webpage about the occurred problem. The similar massage appeared on Dell’s customer forum. Finding a solution Currently Dell is trying to find a solution to this problem because such kind of troubles could have a bad influence on the reputation of the company and that’s why they have to take effective measures to find a way out and to get rehabilitation from its customers. Company established special page set up for retail customers, where they can change the date of retail purchase to the date of customers purchase. Also Dell instructs properly its customer service department that told everyone that the only considered date is a date of retailers purchase.
