Vilfredo Pareto was an 18th century Italian economist who studied wealth distribution and income in England. First he found that 20% of the English people controlled 80% of the wealth and income. Later, Vilfredo went into his backyard and discovered that in his garden; 20% of his pea pods produced 80% of the peas. Figuring he was on to something now Vilfredo went on to find this 80/20 principle literally everywhere that he looked; 20% of the beer drinkers drank 80% of the beer, 20% of the population committed 80% of the crimes, 20% of employees did 80% of the work, 20% of the chicken breeders got 80% of the new chicken breeds, it was endless. This 80/20 principle is literally everywhere and to sum it up, 20 % of your efforts produce 80% of your results. Do the math and you quickly realize that if this is true then 80% of your efforts are wasted and ineffective. What's worst is that 20% of your efforts also produce 80% of your failures, mind you they are different and opposing efforts to the beneficial ones. As you can see there might be no small advantage gained from contemplating Vilfredo's work. You can interlink the economic, military, political, cultural, spiritual, aesthetic, social, agricultural, technological and scientific 20% to create a super elite controlling most everything in society and that seems to be how it happens, as a convergence of both powers and force. You might find this in your community, at work or even in your church, these have no boundaries. What is interesting is that high IQ people do not seem to do any better in life than anyone else. The people who do well understand their strengths and emphasize on them instead of concentrating on their weaknesses. They only monitor their weaknesses enough, so that they don't get sunk by them. They don't try to turn their weaknesses into strengths and set themselves up for a lifetime of frustration and unhappiness. I think this is the path of many parents who become child cripplers and why so many people feel crippled by their parents. The 80% weakness is just too great a target for parents to ignore or handle in the right way. So slap yourself then, if you must!
