Since the invention of shelter (as the seed that germinated into what we now know as real estate), man revelled in its comfort and has learned to be accustomed to and long for it. Even while he still retained some of his nomadic tendencies, after exhausting himself with hunting and adventure, man headed home to find solace in its warmth with his family and clan. It was a difficult time because man was just learning the ways of the world. But it was also a hassle-free period of contentment because man only had basic concerns. Now, man has many things to do and think about. Cars, children, clothing, education, family, food, friends, furniture, health, home, job, nightlife, transport, vacation, etc. are among the concerns that occupy his mind. It seems like all of his waking hours are not enough for all these preoccupations. By far, his job is man’s biggest concern. Everything has to be bought and his job offers him the funds that afford him his comforts and subsistence. The next biggest concern is roof over his head. But we no longer have the luxury of living in a house for free as did our forefathers when the world was young. Today, we have to deal with real estate agents, managers and operators in order to live in a decent house. Buying a house is one of the biggest and most important milestones in the modern man’s life. It is very expensive to the average citizen that banks, governments and real estate establishments devised a way for homes to be affordable. But it entails long-term arrangements that eat up a rather large chunk of one’s pay check for a period ranging from ten to twenty-five years. There is no other way to do it unless you were born to a wealthy family that buying a house is no trouble at all. Some people cannot afford or qualify for home loans. Their option is to lease or rent real estate from private individuals or real estate brokers or managers. Real estate agents prowl city streets and phone books for prospective customers. Banners and posters advertise real estate products and services that come alive in realistic and mind-tickling commercial spins of television advertisements. The continued upward trend in real estate prices may make prospective customers to falter but only for a short spell. Man’s need for a home is so basic that he proceeds with a real estate deal even with just a little uncertain ray of hope.
