An Arya Samaj Marriage is in accordance with the Arya Marriage Validation Act XIX of 1937. The priests complete the ritual and interpret the meanings of the Vedic chants to the couple so that they are enlightened with the importance of marriage and also about living together for the lifetime. An Arya Samaj Marriage is conducted by the Arya Samaj, founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswathi in any of its temple. The marriage in Arya Samaj Marriage is performed as per Vedic rites and thus does not require any flamboyance. In fact, simplicity is the main essence of Arya Samaj Marriage. Though the Arya Samaj Marriage is meant only for Hindus, any non-Hindu can also be allowed to undergo the marriage rituals if he undergoes the process of conversion through Shuddhi i.e. Purification. The Arya Samaj Marriage ceremony is performed with the fire and other elements as the witnesses since they don't believe in idol worshipping. In an rya Samaj Marriage, the mantras, which are chanted, are translated into a language that the couple can understand so that the couple can relate themselves to the meaning and significance of the marriage mantras. This marriage is different from the traditional Hindu marriage in the sense that it does not involves elaborate rituals and the ceremony is not extended over a long period of time. There are many rules of Arya Samaj Marriage rules as given below- * Documentary evidence of Date of Birth of both the parties.(Age certificate(Matriculation certificate Passport / Birth Certificate/ Driving License).Minimum age of both parties is 21 years for male and bride of 18 yrs.) The minimum age at the time of marriage should be 21 for male and 18 for female. * Affidavits, each from the bride and groom, stating their date of birth, marital status at the time of marriage and nationality. * The affidavit must provide affirmation that the bride and groom are not related to each-other within the prohibited degree of relationship. * A copy of divorce decree/order in case a divorcee or death certificate of spouse in case a widow/widower. * Four passport size photos of each. * Two witnesses. An identity proof of the witnesses is mandatory. * Two garlands, two kilogram sweets and half kilogram desi ghee. The Arya Samaj Marriage happen only within the Hindu community.Arya Samaj marriage is totally a different category altogether. It does not ordain any specific rule for match-making for the persons involved. It is based on the primordial Vedas, hence it is regarded as most perfect and well above all castes and creeds. So, it provides a firm platform for inter-caste marriages. The marriages held, are very simple in affair and the Vedas are translated into Hindi/English, so that everybody can understand it. Couples, other than Hindu religion has to first get converted into Hinduism, by a process called (Shuddhi) meaning complete purification which is done by their consent and then, they can get married according to Arya Samaj Teachings.Arya Samaj MarriageS get performed in just one hour, only you need is two garlands and sweets. In these marriages 'pooja' is not performed to any specific deity. Fire and the other elements are the only witnesses to the ceremony.
