Fambridge Yacht Haven Turn Heads! Well done! The Skippers Guide were invited to the official opening and launch of the New Facilities block on Thursday 27th October, 2011 at Fambridge Yacht Haven in North Fambridge, Essex. Councillor John Archer (Leader of Maldon District Council) opened the Fambridge Yacht Haven new Facilities Block. Danyal Adams (Marina Manager) and his team hosted the event. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony everybody was able to have a good look around the new facilities block and marina with lunch at the ‘Nattajacks Café/Bistro Club’. Danyal took sometime out from the day to explain how they have been working on the Yacht Haven and what berth holders and visitors can now expect. It is great to see Marinas investing in their customers’ enjoyment. It is clear that there has been a huge investment at Fambridge Yacht Haven on the most important areas from a berth holders or visiting yachtsman’s perspective. Marina staff take on board and communicate the needs of their customers. The Yacht Haven Group clearly take this on board and ‘Invest in their customers’ with improved facilities and service. The Skippers Guide wanted to see for themselves what the new Facilities Block was like? It is absolutely marvelous. Catering for yachtmen’s needs in a sophisticated way. This new building certainly raises the standard of facilities at this ever improving and popular East Coast Marina. Spacious, light, airy and really well designed. The Fambridge Yacht Haven can now offer their berth holders and visiting Yachts and Boats a higher standard of service with launderette and purpose built showers (including disabled facilities). What do Fambridge Yacht Haven customers think? It is always nice to step ashore and enjoy these types of facilities and with six showers and wash basins in each of the wash rooms there is plenty of space. Some extra thought has gone into the design and outside there are sinks and outside showers for dealing with those most messy of situations that all boaters sometimes encounter! In otherwords, those who are really dirty can get them selves cleaned up outside first and leave the showers for the remainder. Good thinking. The Rise of Fambridge Yacht Haven. There has been a lot going on since the Yacht Haven Group took over. These facilities are just another ‘feather in the cap’ of this ever improving marina. It has been a short and rapid road that started when the Yacht Haven Group purchased the site in 2004. Up until this point, the marina was a small family managed concern. Substantial investment is plain to see with improved and updated facilities at all levels including pontoons, yard space, boat handling equipment, landscaping and security. In effect, you can choose to keep your prize possession in a number of differing ways, from full size marina berth, finger pontoon, swinging mooring as well as ‘park & launch’. It is all very well having great facilities but there must also be tremendous contributions from the staff who actually run the facility and once again, Fambridge set the bar at a high level with a warm and friendly welcome being always advanced to both its regular berth holders and visitors. An ever expanding range of shoreside services are on offer with companies including Boatshed Essex (Yacht Brokers), Estuary Sailing and Power Boat Training School and Althorne Marine Services (Marine Engineers). Fambridge Yacht Haven is some 6 miles further up the River Crouch from Burnham. A positively idyllic location on the Stow Creek with all tide access for all vessels. Always wise to call ahead on VHF Channel 80 or phone 01621 740370. Specific details for navigation - can be found at the Fambridge Yacht Haven Website – click here. Fambridge Yacht Haven has two distinct areas. There is the main marina on Stow Creek and also an additional area known as the ‘Yacht Station’. This area provides deep water swinging moorings and also hosts the ‘valet mooring’ service where the Yacht Haven staff will carefully berth vessels alongside a 120m pontoon, if required. The Yacht station also caters for visiting yachts and boats and is very popular with its own facilities and the ever popular ‘Ferry Inn’ being within stumbling distance. The main site has also seen the opening of the ‘Nattajacks Café/Bistro Club’. A licensed Bar, Restaurant and lively events are all on the menu …… and they also do breakfasts …. Bliss ! Skipper’s Guide - Last Word It is so refreshing to visit a marina where the staff actually enjoy doing what they do. This is why they do it so well and have an excellent rapport with their current berth holders. If you want the best of all worlds with berths, hardstanding, crane, marina facilities and most of all great service then Fambridge Yacht Haven is definitely the place to be either as a berth holder or visitor. Come and see for yourself. Well done!
