ABC News recently reported about an auto that crashed into a San Diego restaurant after the owner mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake. As the car came through a glass window, diners scattered throughout the restaurant. Luckily, no one was seriously injured though three people suffered minor injuries. The three injured people were treated for minor scrapes and bruises at area hospitals and then released. The driver of the auto was uninjured in the accident. Of course, there was extensive damage to the restaurant, but nothing that cannot be repaired. The accident, though, was a sobering reminder to all involved of the importance of auto insurance. The driver of the vehicle was especially thankful that she was carrying the appropriate insurance when the accident occurred. Had she been uninsured or under-insured, she would have been personally liable for the damage to the restaurant and for the medical expenses of the injured patrons. Thanks to her auto insurance coverage, she will not suffer financial ruin because of the accident. The restaurant owner, Mr. Raj Patel, was also grateful. He came running from the kitchen when he heard the sound of the crash to find shattered glass and a vehicle in the middle of the Surati Farson Mart. Because of insurance coverage, he will not lose his business because of the damage. Likewise, the injured patrons benefited in that they could receive the necessary treatment for their injuries, minimal though they were, without worrying about whether or not the medical bills would be covered. All because the driver was carrying adequate auto insurance Fortunately, this accident was not more serious, but it could have been tragic. Sometimes it is human nature for people to wait until tragedy strikes before they take necessary action. However, this should not be the case with auto insurance. Every driver on the road is required by law to carry minimum liability insurance. Carrying adequate auto insurance is more than just a law, though. It is a responsibility that each of us owe to each other if we are going to drive an automobile. As unlikely as it sounds, no one ever knows when they will accidentally step on the gas pedal instead of the brake and go careening into a restaurant or a crowd of people or another vehicle. If you have been playing fast and loose with California state law when it comes to auto insurance, now is the time to act responsibly and purchase auto insurance. It is very easy to get insurance quotes over the Internet and by phone. Shop around, get several auto insurance quotes in San Diego today, and don’t let tragedy catch you unaware.
