Some of the duties of a physical assistant include treating patient who have minor injuries, making diagnoses, preparing progress notes, checking the medical history and many other therapeutic and diagnostic responsibilities. People who don't have a medical degree can opt for a career in nursing. Nurses are required to assist surgeons and physicians in administering treatment. They are also responsible for administering medication, operating the machines in the hospitals, recording details of the problems and the medical history of patient, performing diagnosis and following up the progress of the patient. Sonographers are required to operate sonography machines that direct high-frequency waves into the patient's body. They photograph or videotape the image generated for diagnosis and send it for interpretation by the physician. They are also responsible making a report of the preliminary findings and recording the medical history of the patients. To get a sonographers job you must be a high school graduate and must complete a sonographers training course. There are many universities that conduct 1-year certificate training program for people who want to be sonographers. You can also choose to be a radiologic or clinical laboratory technician. Radiologic technicians conduct imaging examinations of patients are also required to write a report on the examination. Clinical lab technicians are required to perform manual test and prepare specimens. You can also take up a dental assistant'sjob that does not require any degree but may require you to get a certificate from an institute that is accredited by the dental association. Some of the responsibilities of a dental assistant include assisting the dentist in administering treatment, sterilizing instruments, updating the dental records of patients, disinfecting equipment, preparing the patients for treatment and scheduling appointments. Paramedics are required to attend to emergency medical situations such as accidents, heart attacks and childbirth. They have to evaluate the condition of the patient by checking if the patient has medical condition, provide them emergency care and arrange for their transport to a medical facility.
