Now that Smallville is rumored to be on its last legs, there have been accompanying speculations as to how the beloved franchise can be made to live on. As with all things, at some point, sooner or later, even Smallville, which has enjoyed a very good run considering it has six seasons under its belt and has just recently opened its seventh. Here are four concepts for potential Smallville superhero spin-offs: The Green Arrow, Aquaman, Cyborg and Impulse. First up, the Green Arrow. Sure, he may not be as prominent as his other leafy compatriots, namely, the Green Lantern and the Green Hornet, but Arrow has his own qualities that should merit his consideration. A modernized Robin Hood of sorts, the Green Arrow makes use of sophisticated gizmos and gadgets to complete his heroic efforts. Justin Hartley gave life to this do-gooder as a recurring character in Smallville’s sixth season. Next we have Aquaman. Actually, this member of The Justice League was given his own pilot a couple of years ago. Al Gough and Miles Millar, the brains behind Smallville, had tried their hands at this spin-off thing by creating Aquaman, which had, in fact, starred Justin Hartley as the aquatic hero. Unfortunately, the show fell victim to the merger of WB and UPN, and failed to make waves. There is also the half man, half machine Victor, also known as Cyborg. Victor a football star in high school before a vehicular mishap left him requiring some bionic intervention. He has a distinct sentimental advantage as one of only a handful of African-American superheroes. Finally, we have Impulse. Edgier and with a tinge of darkness and unpredictability lacking in his fellow Justice Leaguers, Bart Allen dons the title of rebel as much as he does hero. Kyle Gallner offers just the right mix of good and bad into his character.
