Action figures first appeared when a manufacturer introduced soldier action dolls patterned from a popular TV show in the market around 1960s which became an instant hit with little boys who were the target clients during that time. As the popularity of the TV show soared so did the action dolls that were patterned from the character of the hit series. The action figures brought some positive effects on the child and most parents noticed that the child became more responsible and more aware of the things that surround him. Soon even the girls took some interest in the action dolls intended only for the boys when they were first introduced. Boys cannot simply play with a fashion doll like girls but the action figure can also be played by a girl and soon manufacturers began creating some characters that would suit a little girl more and began a new era of little girls. Before, a little girl was only concerned about how she must look as she became an exact replica of one of her fashion dolls but the introduction of the action dolls began the new genre of tough girls who would not simply cry when teased. The little girl soon learned how to defend herself as her favorite heroine taught her how. Gone are the days when little girls just run away and cry inside her room, the tough girls generation became independent, self reliant, confident, strong, and definitely not a quitter while keeping her charm as a girl. The girls learned to use their deadliest weapon – their charm. Action figures are without a doubt influenced most adults today when they had an action figure during their younger days. You must admit that somehow you dreamed of being that soldier in the helicopter ready to rescue a comrade in trouble. You must’ve dreamed of being someone who can protect the earth from the harmful effects of pollution and find ways to help nature from deteriorating. Since its introduction in the market, the action figures slowly influenced the life of a child that owned them. They made the child a better person by influencing the child to do well in everything even if no one is looking. The manufacturers today still holds the same intention –to make the child a better person by copying the good qualities and traits of the action figure that he or she holds within the palm of his or her hands.
