Around seventy years back, you would go to a respectable place and you could see a lot of people whenever they would have the urge to know what the time was they would put their hands in their waist coat and take out a stylish elegant pocket watch, push open its lid and see the time. But nowadays it is quite different. People are in too much of a hurry to have a watch that they need to take out of their pocket. They on the other hand are more comfortable with their wrist watches which are not that much as a style statement when compared to the old fashioned watches but it is less fragile and much quicker when it comes to telling the time. But still people who like them are paying good money to purchase them as they are a valuable piece with immense historical value. People who still prefer to keep a pocket watch do not do it to fulfill their urge to know the time. That said, they should not be discredited as they undoubtedly have a great taste and they still want to keep the tradition alive even they know it is done and dusted with. A lot of these watches can still be bought by people who prefer to use it and they can have it at low prices and they would not have to pay an arm and a leg for it like they had to in those historical times. Even if you want to buy an old fashioned watch you can buy that as well at incredibly low prices which could be dating back to the 19th century, with the same elegance and the craftsmanship which can be compared to watches being used today. Although a lot of watch manufacturers are trying to revive that historical time buy producing a pocket watch, but they are quite expensive. In the whole market there were only a few pocket watch manufacturers who used to make the best watches and hardly ever could someone succeed to produce something as good as they could but they all closed down when the Great Depression took place and furthermore wrist watches started to be more popular then the pocket variety of watches and that finished the pocket watch manufacturers completely. Still some continued on a small scale and today they have become a very popular collector’s item and some of these collectors would pay any amount to get their hands on those watches.
