Recently, there has been a great deal of interest in doing online surveys to make money. And unfortunately, as a trend develops and becomes popular, scam artists follow. Although the large majority of paid survey sites are legitimate, there are some survey sites that are looking to take advantage of unsuspecting victims. To make money and protect yourself from these scams, follow the tips below: 1) Before registering with a company, do some research by doing a search. Seek out reviews of the company. Find out how they do business. Determine if participants make money and are happy. 2) Visit the large forum sites and post questions about the company. Ask if anyone has any experience using them and how it worked out. Also, do a search on the forum about the company. Determine if anyone has noted problems with the company or their tactics in the past. If you see a number of bad reviews, steer clear of that company and look for others in the field. 3) Use a free email address when registering with a new survey site. Do not register using your primary email address. Some unscrupulous sites will sell your information to advertisers. When this happens, you will be flooded with spam email. If you notice this happening with a free email account that you opened for the purpose of registering with that site, you can just close the email account and be done with it. 4) If you register with a survey site and they DO NOT ask you a number of preliminary questions, be wary. This is a danger sign. Legitimate survey sites need information about you to determine your demographic make-up. Surveys are always targeted to specific demographic groups. 5) Be wary of any survey site that requires an upfront payment from you. Survey sites make money from each completed survey. It is through your time and effort that surveys are filled out. You shouldn’t have to pay them upfront AND do all the work. 6) Watch out for sites that require an unusually high minimum before they can issue your check. This is a warning sign that should not be ignored. 7) Steer clear of companies that require you to buy something or sign-up for a product or service. You should be able to sign up with no strings attached. Most survey companies are legitimate. However, while no system is perfect in weeding out scams, you can improve your odds of dealing with reputable companies by following the 7 tips above.
