Wikipedia defines Internet marketing as the promotion of products or services through the Internet. The advantages of an Internet business are low costs (relative to brick and mortar businesses), quick and easy access, and a large global audience. A successful Internet marketing strategy includes many different aspects: an efficient website, effective advertising, attractive products, and a good sales page. If you are just starting out on the road to online success, do some research before jumping right in. Read some good Internet marketing books, both free and paid, on the subject. Too many people start their online business with no experience or knowledge and get discouraged when they do not make money right away. Or worse yet, they pay good money and get involved with poorly designed programs that are destined for failure from the start. You are best served by doing research with some good Internet marketing books, and then proceeding slowly. Many people start out their online business using affiliate programs. An affiliate program allows you to sell someone else’s product and receive a commission on each sale. There are tens of thousand of affiliate products that you can offer for sale. This is an excellent way to get started if you do not have your own product. However, you will achieve much more online success if you have your own product. A major key to online success is getting traffic to your website and getting them to subscribe to a list. Then, you can offer members of your list good information along with attractive products. The advantage to this approach is that you can send out multiple solicitations to the people on your list. I have been very successful at this by offering an Internet marketing book to anyone who subscribers to my list. A good, free Internet marketing book is an attractive inducement to people. The key is, you must offer a good product. The final piece to your online success is a quality product along with an effective sales page. I prefer to sell Internet marketing books that I write myself. Because I have my own product, I am in complete control. I can change the price, add or delete content, and offer it to others as an affiliate product. Having your own Internet marketing book gives you many advantages over selling someone else’s goods. So, if you are just starting out on the road to online success, do some research and spend some time developing a good Internet marketing book.
