Worship means to honour, revere and make obeisance to God. Worship can also be described as the reverence or devotion made to God as a mark of respect, admiration and love. True worship is the worship done from our spirits and done according to God's word which is truth. Jesus said in John 4:23 "the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth." Worship could be performed by an individual or a group of persons like in the church, family etc. Since true worship is done from our spirits, it goes to explain that the people who could be described as true worshippers of God are born again Christians (John 3:3 and Romans 10:9-10). True worship is not about religion rather it is something real, a relationship. Worship connotes singing of praise songs, lifting our hands up high to God, falling on our knees or falling prostrate. It equally means having fellowship with God. Psalm 14:12 "...the lifting of my hands as the evening sacrifice..." our worship to God with our hands raised is likened to the evening sacrifice of goats and bulls to God by the Old Testament practitioners. The practice of sacrificing goats and bulls has been abolished with the death of Jesus Christ, the perfect sacrifice. Those practices were a shadow of the things to come and now that the real thing has come into place: the death of Christ Jesus and the lifting up of our hands in worship, the shadow practices has to give way. Of course we should remember that Jesus did not just die, He was buried but He was raised from the dead and now lives and reigns. It may interest you to know that God desires your worship with your hands lifted up high in honour of Him (1st Timothy 2:8). To us believers, lifting our hands in worship to God is not just a sign or formality but it is a ministry unto our God. Remember we have been made priests and kings unto our God (Revelation 1:6). What do priests do? They offer the sacrifices that people brought to offer to God in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, we do not offer sacrifices because Christ offered Himself the perfect sacrifice for us so what we now offer is worship. When you do this as a child of God, you will experience God manifesting in a tremendous way, we will be gloriously transported to His presence and as our spirits mingle with His, we will get the results we desire (Acts 13:2). Anything is possible at the place of true worship because it is the altar of ministering to the Lord according to His word and from our spirits as well. The lifting of our hands in true worship to our God is so pleasant to Him that it was likened to an evening sacrifice. So what are you waiting for? Let your hands go up high in worship and adoration unto our Lord and King...Jesus Christ and you sure will be glad you did for all that you desire will come down to you when your hands go up in true worship..
