When we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, a change must come about, about are feelings and actions towards sin (repentance). Before you accepted Jesus, and repented, you probably cared very little or perhaps none, when you sinned. You may have felt that it was wrong, when you did things that you knew were not right, but you did not truly care or try to stop sinning when you did it. For instance, you may have enjoyed looking at pornography on the internet, or you may have frequented bars whenever you could, to find a date for a one night sexual encounter. You knew deep down in your heart that doing such things were wrong, but you did not truly want to stop it, in fact you may have greatly enjoyed doing such things, you had no conviction to stop doing it. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savor and repent of our sins, the Holy Spirit gives us a conviction, towards our old sinful nature. We still have the sinful nature, but we now have a way to defeat it, through the Lord. A Christian, will most definitely still get the thoughts to sin, and this will continue to plague us, as long as we are in these sinful, flesh bodies, but, a Christian will have new desires, and ways of thinking, in fact the Bible tells us that we are new creatures, our old ways are gone, if we are truly a Christian. The Lord is there for us at all times and he says he will never leave or forsake us, but we are beings with a free will, and if we choose to abandoned are faith in him, there is nothing that will truly stop us, if it's what we desire. If for instance, your old ways of making a great amount of money, or having earthly power, was brought about by cheating others, or by some other wrong actions, you may find that your new Christian lifestyle, means you must stop doing what you did in the past to get the money and the earthly power it can bring. If you decide to keep returning to your old ways of sinning, without trying to avoid them, of what good is your salvation? You are showing God, that your faith and devotion is not to his son, who is the salvation from your sins, but your true Lord is sin, money and earthly desires. You can lose your salvation, but it is because of your own rejection of Jesus, not of his rejection of you. Sadly, I believe a lot of so called Christians, are just as lost as they were before they claimed to become Christians, and this includes some Pastors.
