The 93rd PGA Championship is underway in hot and fine weather at the posh Atlantic Athletic Club’s Highlands championship course at John’s Creek in Georgia. And the man who set it in motion with the first tee shot of the day at 07.30 local Eastern time was Craig Stevens, a humble club professional who had to win his Cleveland Launcher Driver in the final major of the year at a qualifying tournament. He teed off alongside PGA Tour regulars Brendan de Jongh of Zimbabwe andJohn Rollins of Zimbabwe. They included Argentina’s Andres Romero, who had played five holes with Cleveland Launcher Driver and Americans Gary Woodland, who had played four holes, Stewart, who had played three and Nick Watney, who has birdied his first two holes. De Jongh, who had played six holes, was at 1-under in a tie with World No 1 Luke Donald (2 holes) and double major winner Angel Cabrero (3 holes) and Tiger Woods, who was 1-under after just two holes..
