The latest darling of Mexico's political scene is the handsome Enrique Pe?a Nieto. He is the man who most Mexicans believe will be their next President. The others participating in the polls are thus more than a little concerned about his presence. Although the formal campaigning has yet to begin, Nieto seems to already be on the up and up with the voting population. Nieto is famous for his mastery of the theatrical side of the political sphere. Nieto also happens to be an extremely charismatic person, with an innate magnetism. Enrique Pena Nieto's immense popularity is blamed on his alleged deal with Televisa, Mexico's most powerful television network. They say that he paid off the media conglomerate to get it to repeatedly show news about the things he has already achieved, in a sort of TV campaign. This, they say, is why Televisa always seems to be in support of Nieto's work. Notably enough, these claims came out after Nieto and Angelica Rivera confessed to their relationship. Rivera is famous in her own right, perhaps even more popular than Nieto in a sense, given how many times her face has shown up in various soap operas with a cult following. Nieto eventually married Rivera, some time after his previous wife passed away. Pretelini was able to give Nieto three children prior to her passing. Pretelini expired of a cardiac complication when Nieto was still the governor of the State of Mexico. Mexico's social scene was suddenly abuzz with interest in Nieto's doings following this unfortunate incident, given that Nieto had suddenly become one of the most desirable (and available) men in the country. His popularity among women is just part of Enrique Pe?a Nieto's emotional appeal to the public. Nieto is also famous for his "compromisos", oaths to answer the needs of constituents. Infrastructure was just one of the chief notes in his campaign. Nieto actually used the completion of various promised projects as campaign events. Pe?a Nieto has successfully created an image of a man who gets things done, and one who works at keeping his promises to his people. Opponents still note that Nieto's expenditures for the promotions of his "completed promises" were far higher than the expenditures for the completion of the promises themselves. Nieto also got some flak for something that happened in the Guadalajara Book Fair. It was discovered during the fair that Nieto was not capable of remembering the names of the people who had written some of his "top" books to read. He said then that he always found it hard to remember titles and authors, being more concerned with the text itself. Unfortunately, quite a number of persons ridiculed him for it. It was made worse when one of his offspring, understandably upset about others' ridicule of her father, ended up saying something less than diplomatic about her father's opponents. Even now, in spite of all the politician's efforts to stem the critics, they are still making fun of him for his alleged lack of intellectualism. Enrique Pe?a Nieto asserts that his words are often taken out of context by his detractors. Still, he has the strongest presidential bid to date.
