Trethowans Solicitors have bolstered their ranks with the promotion of four solicitors to Associate status. Matthew Freeman, Louise Thompson, Tom Hartigan and Ian Grimshaw have all been made up to Associates. Matthew Freeman trained with the firm, having joined in August 2006, and started his training contract with Trethowans in November 2006. He qualified as a Solicitor into the Commercial Litigation Team in November 2008. Matthew's work in the Litigation Team covers contract disputes, wills and estates based disputes, insolvency issues and land and boundary disputes. Matthew also deals with co-habitation, landlord and tenant and other property disputes having gained a large amount of experience in these areas. Louise Thompson specialises in acquisitions and disposals (including MBOs and MBIs), shareholders' agreements, partnership agreements and commercial agreements, having acted for a wide range of businesses, operating in a variety of sectors. Louise qualified as a solicitor in September 2008 and joined Trethowans on qualification. Tom Hartigan joined Trethowans in 2000 and has over 10 years experience in dealing with Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Claims. Tom handles all types of personal injury cases on behalf of injured clients and has particular experience of dealing with accidents at work and serious road traffic accidents. He has dealt with clinical negligence cases against private hospitals, NHS Trusts and individual medical practitioners. He also deals with complex cases involving catastrophic injuries such as head and spinal injuries. Ian Grimshaw qualified as a solicitor 2006 and joined the Trethowans Employment Team in 2008. Ian's expertise and enthusiasm is appreciated by his clients, whether companies or individuals. Ian advises on all aspects of employment law, from HR advice to Employment Tribunals and corporate support, and Ian has particular experience in the complex areas of collective consultation and TUPE.
