Rameswaram – Holy town in South state Tamil Nadu on the shores of Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean. Dhanushkodi is at the tip of the Rameswaram Island where these two massive water bodies meet. Rameswaram is a holy city and worshipped only next to Kasi. Famous for its Ramanatha Swamy temple where linga is worshipped and it is popular as one of the 12 jyothirlingas. Rameswaram is accessible from all the major towns in Tamil Nadu and other cities in South India including Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kanyakumari and Trivandrum. These stones that were used for building the rama seth bridge doesn’t drown in water ahd that is how the bridge was miraculous. One more interesting point here at Rameswaram is that one cannot find waves in the beach. To the max they raise 3 cm only. Few of the places to visit in and around Rameshwaram are Ramanatha Swamy Temple, Jadayu Theertham, Gandhamathan Parvatham, Mandapam and Pamban and Stones used to build Ram seth bridge. Tourist can plan a one day trip too if they are busy with their schedules. There are many one day packages available for Rameswaram which covers Rameswaram Temple, Pamban Palam, Devi Pattinam, Ramar patham and beach. To roam in the beach city tourist can even hire four wheelers depending on their budget and convenience. Othe major tourist destinations one can make a visit from Rameswaram are Kanyakumari, Trivandrum and Madurai. Buses and trains are very much available for visiting Kanyakumari from here which takes around 6 -7 hours of journey. Even cabs are available for hire or rent. Most of the travel agents offer travel plans with a package for Rameswaram, Madurai and Kanyakumari.
