NEW DELHI (AP) — Shiv Shankar Prasad Chowrasia of India earned his second professional win at the Avantha Masters on Sunday, shooting a 5-under 67 for a one-stroke victory over Robert Coles of England. Chowrasia set the clubhouse target of 15-under 273 at the joint Euro-Asian tour event and then had to wait an hour while Coles finished his round at the DLF Golf and Country Club. The Englishman had several chances to win over the closing holes but couldn’t sink the putts to pull it off. U.S. Open runner-up Gregory Havret of France claimed third another shot back after a 68. First-round leader Robert-Jan Derksen of the Netherlands was fourth after shooting a 69 to finish at 12 under. Overnight leader Pablo Larrazabal of Spain shot 72 and ended in a tie for fifth with India’s Sujjan Singh at 11 under. The victory ensures that Chowrasia is exempt on the European Tour through 2013.Putter Series “It is a dream come true. I knew I was playing well but I did not think about winning, though at the back of my mind I knew I had done it before,” said Chowrasia, adding that he will adjust his schedule to play as much as possible in Europe. Chowrasia was 7 under for the day and 17 under for the tournament through the 15th hole, but had a double bogey on the 16th just when he seemed to be running away with the title. He steadied himself to par the last two hole and finish at 273. Then he just had to wait to see if it would hold up.Ping Golf “I went to the range and hit a few balls,” Chowrasia said. “The roar from the 18th green made me realize something had happened and then people ran towards the range to congratulate me. It seemed a replay of 2008.” Coles missed two birdie opportunities in the closing holes before taking four shots to get down from the edge of the green at the last.other “It is obviously disappointing but I don’t feel too bad right now talking to you but I will probably feel a lot worse tomorrow when it sinks in,” Coles said. “I did have a great chance to win.”
