After you have made a huge investment in getting a golf simulator, it is important that you maintain it well so it lasts long and works flawlessly and gives you the feeling of playing on a new simulator every day. You will have a product manual for your simulator with the directions to keep it well maintained, make sure you follow it. Different makes have different ways of maintaining it, even if they are similar. As with most of the electronics, the main enemy of golf simulator is the dust. As a precaution, try to avoid installing the simulator in a place which is ought to get dust. Make sure that the clubs which are being used are clean and dust free, as the dust on the club will eventually end up on your simulator. If you are using your own clubs, clean it with a wet cloth at least every 2-3 days. There are chances of a clean looking club having some dust in its grove. If you are running your simulator for commercial purpose and there are people playing with their own golf clubs, ask them to wipe their clubs with a wet clean piece cloth. As with golf clubs the same thing applies to golf balls. Make sure you only use clean balls for playing on indoor simulator. Do not use the balls which are used outdoor. A dirty ball can damage the screen and also leave spots on the screen. Over time it can cause burns and damage the screen in the long run. Always inspect the ball before playing as it can sometimes crack or break while playing and cause a heavy damage to the screen. Keep the projector clean as per the instruction of the manufacturer. Keeping the lens of the projector clean would extend the life of the bulb used in projector which is very costly. Most of the manufacturers of the projector do not include the bulb in the warranty. So, as it is said prevention is better than cure, try to keep it clean and save hundreds of dollars on getting a new bulb. The most important thing in the simulator is the sensor of the golf simulator. Even a slightest dust on it can drastically affect your shots. To get more accuracy of your shot try to clean the sensors on a regular basis. Some camera based simulators require special attention on cleaning. Even small debris can stop the simulator in capturing the proper swing and motion of the ball. A weekly cleaning of the projector screen and computer is requires to keep your simulator well maintained. I recommend cleaning your screen with a wiper at least a week to remove spots of the balls. You can also use a vacuum cleaner to clean your computer and other parts. Hope these small tips would help increase the life of your simulator and keep it like a new on for years.
