Artificially built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1678, the lake got its name from Maharana Fateh Sagar who was instrumental in reconstructing it. It was originally constructed to serve as a storage reservoir but today has evolved to serve the purpose of providing drinking water. The lake is a famous scenic spot and is the picture of serenity, accompanied by the soft murmurs of waves that are sometimes unceremoniously interrupted by the more swift currents created by a boat cruising upon the water.
