The fastest way to get pregnant is to get serious about making that baby! What does that entail? Mainly monitoring when ovulation occurs and doing two things in response: timing sex around the woman's most fertile time of the month and conserving the man's sperm for this most fertile time. In law enforcement or the military, when someone starts shooting at the bad guy without really taking the time to take aim it's called “spray and pray.” It's just showering bullets in the general direction of the target and hoping you get lucky enough to hit the mark. “Spray and pray” (i.e. just having a lot of unprotected sex in the middle of your cycle) is not the fastest way to get pregnant! Take the time to take aim at your target. Your target is ovulation. Ovulation occurs around the 14th day of the cycle, with the first day starting from the day the woman gets her period. Many things can be done to determine exactly when ovulation takes place. When a woman ovulates, her body temperature will rise noticeably that same day or the following day. Ovulation can also be fairly clearly pinpointed by observing changes in vaginal discharge. A few days before ovulation, a woman's discharge becomes thicker and creamier than normal. There is generally a higher volume of this white discharge than what is seen throughout other times in the cycle. On the most fertile day (generally the same day or the day before the temperature jump), the discharge will be clear and very slippery. This fertile discharge is viscous rather than watery and can be stretched between the fingers without breaking. The fastest way to get pregnant starts with learning about ovulation and tracking it. Another reason why “spray and pray” doesn't get you to your objective in the most effective way is because it's most effecient to have sex just once or twice during this fertile time in the woman's cycle. Often couples are having sex two or three times a day in the middle of the cycle, which is merely weakening the man's ejaculate. Even if a man's sperm count is normal, have sex just once a day during the 12th-14th days of the woman's cycle. Furthermore, morning sex is the best for healthy, active sperm. The fastest way to get pregnant if the man's sperm count is low is to have sex just once during the fertile phase. Don't forget your general health is a huge factor. Both man and woman should be eating healthy, at an appropriate weight, exercising, free from alcohol and tobacco, and getting 8 hours of good-quality sleep every night. Men can also switch from “tighty-whitey” briefs-style underwear to boxer shorts. Men should avoid jacuzzis, hot tubs, and other activities that directly elevate the temperature of their testicles, such as bicycle or horseback riding. Women, drink plenty of water and wear cotton underwear. After sex, the woman should also lay down for 10-15 minutes to best allow for the sperm to climb up to her ovaries (rather than immediately getting up, urinating, and cleaning up her genital area). Using all of these tips is time-tested and proven to be the fastest way to get pregnant.
