Some time ago, I read a positive thinking book by Norman Vincent Peale. In it, he says that it fairly easy to become better than 95% of the people involved in a particular venture. This saying is true for your online business. 95% of the people who start an online business will make little or no money. The reason is simple; they fail to put the necessary time or work to achieves success. Most people become disillusioned after they worked for a week or two without seeing results and will give up. Think of your online business as a marathon. Develop a work schedule that you can live with over the long term. Design a plan of action; if you write articles, how many articles per day or week? How many hours will commit to your business each day? It is only through discipline and hard work can you achieve success. Following are some ideas to get you started making money and surpassing the achievement of the bottom 95%. 1. Write down a list of areas that interest you. It is fine if you have no prior knowledge in a particular area, you will do research and learn as you go. From this list, you will select 1 topic on which to focus your online business. 2. Determine if the niche that you have chosen can be profitable. Do a search for items related to your chosen niche. Make sure there are products that are being sold in this niche. Go to ClickBank (a large affiliate company) and search among their affiliate marketplace to find other related products that you can recommend. Determine how well these products sell. 3. Buy a domain name with a short catchy name related to your niche. Having your own domain will make it much easier to do business. Having your own website will shorten the time it takes you to begin making money. 4. Register with an autoresponder company and start building a list. With a good list, you can expect to make about $1.00 for each subscriber. Commit a portion of your marketing efforts to your list. 5. Market, Market, Market. If you write articles, do several each day. Develop a signature file that promotes your list, site, and products. Visit six to eight forums a day and enter 8 posts on each one. Make sure you include your signature file in each posting you make. 6. Go back and repeat #5. The key to your online success is the effort you put into marketing. Do lots of it and do it often.
