Contrary to popular belief it is possible to ruin rice during the steaming process. Many people are under the impression that simply cooking or steaming the rice for hours on end will produce the best rice however this is not the case. If you want to create light and fluffy rice as opposed to a stodgy starchy mess you are going to need to invest in the best rice cooker. There are effectively two types of rice cooker, being the electric rice cooker and the steamer. Electric rice cookers areimpressive and look the part in any kitchen however this does not necessarily mean they are more useful than rice steamers. In fact, I would go as far to say that one particular type of rice steamer is the best rice cooker and actually more fitting than electric rice cookers. The rice steamer I am referring to is the stainless steel rice ball. Don't believe me? Need some more convincing? The reasons I say rice balls are better than electric rice cookers is as follows: 1) Electric rice cookers are extensive, even the scaled-downmodels, and take a lot of storage space when they are not in use. This is acceptable if youown an ample kitchen but if you struggle for space an electric rice cooker is not going to be feasible. Rice balls, on the other hand, are small and require little elbowroom. 2) An electric rice cooker is a piece of machinery that can break down and go wrong and toavoid this happening you need to keep it maintained and in good working order. A rice ball, on the other hand, is not a piece of machinery and has no moving parts. 3) An electric rice cooker is costly to buy and since itneeds power to work, can be dear to use. A rice ball, on the other hand is very uncostly to buy, and since it doesn't require power can beeconomical to use. 4) Electric rice cookers need external energy to work, which limits their use outside the home. Even in the home they have their limitations, especially if you have a power cut. Rice balls, on the other hand, don't need a power source and are ideal for camping and steaming in the wilderness where the pan is heated on a camping stove or over an open fire. Many folks would maintain that the electric rice cooker is thegreatest rice cooker currentlyat one's disposal although I would have todisagree and you are probably aware of this. If you have everwondered if a stainless steel rice ball isany good or never tried a rice ball, I would stronglysuggest you go out,purchase one and use it as you will not be disappointed. I was wary about buying a rice ball however I took the plunge and after theinitital time of using it I could immediately see the advantages compared to my electric rice cooker.
