For the giant Google, Microsoft merely exists. For the people who have invested in Google services, and Google’s lack of support to Windows phone is a real issue which is to be tackled by Microsoft head on. Microsoft Windows mobile developers naturally expect the users of its Windows Phone to use its own online services for email, messaging and social networking etc. Although, Windows Phone comes with with full support for Microsoft Office, SkyDrive, Bing, Xbox and other major Microsoft services. As a major platform, Microsoft wish that its customers to be fully invested in Microsoft. Apple and Google also share the same thought with iOS and Android respectively. Both Smartphone platforms offer services and applications that is only available at their respective smartphones. Like if we take iTunes in the cloud, iTunes is Apple’s cash machine which is why it is not available to Google and similar is the case with Google Android. However, unlike Microsoft Google acknowledge that Apple iOS exists. Google may prefer Android for mobile application development but it quickly follows up with iOS. E.g. Google first dedicated Google+ on Android platform but after a week it was made available to iOS also. It results in benefit for the one who has fully invested in Google’s services, can use them on their Apple device conveniently. Users are provided an access to every Google service whether via a dedicated iPhone app or an HTML5 web application. Google supports iOS even though they are competitors. But Google doesn’t feel same about windows phone. It offers a very basic search app for windows phone but it falls flat in comparison to Bing search. Now, some window Phone developers are working to tackle the Google services but the results may take time to go on positive side. Microsoft is trying itself to fill those hidden gaps by creating applications exclusive for its platform. Like, it developed a mobile application for YouTube and many more like this. Still many people say that Microsoft does not have a great app store for windows Phone. It has more than 70,000 apps in the market; very few of them are actually as per users interest and industry standards. In order to convince iOS and Android users to change their platform, Microsoft need to lend some support to Goggle services so that users and mobile developers both feel that they will not miss anything. For now, Microsoft only holds 45 of total shares in the Smartphone market which does not motivate Google to take it as a big competitor.
