The 4 personality temperaments of any relationship Whether you are an online marketer or not if you can understand the 4 personality temperaments of the person you are dealing with you will be more effective in whatever it is you are doing. People ‘buy’ from people they like know and trust. People can’t stand the pushy car sales man approach and the 80’s style of hardball, Glengarry Glen Ross style, sales ain’t going to get you very far my friend. These are all facts. So with that in mind people are rightfully going to have their guard up to sales tactics, especially on the internet. Heck knows I have taken a drive down ‘Scamville avenue’ and purchased the odd souvenir along the way, but am thankful I didn’t buy the ticket to the ‘ScrewUover and put you in huge debt Theme park’. You can have the best product in the world but you are going to face quite a few ‘Up Yours’ signs on your travels. This little write up is to help you understand the person you are dealing with so that you can relate to them on their level and hence break down the barrier they are going to have to you. Like I said don’t take it personally though. Now the purpose of this is to help an online marketing entrepreneur understand the 4 personality temperaments of any relationship, but it can be extended really to relationships in general, so whether you are trying to get a partner, or on the good side of your boss, or even understand your teenage kids, this will be of value to you. The first thing I would like you to do is to get an A4 piece of paper and make a quadrant by drawing a line in the middle from the top to the bottom, and then another from the centre of the page from the right to the left. At the top of the page, in the centre, can you write the word ‘Relationship’, and all the way at the bottom of the page go ahead and write ‘Task’, again in the centre of the page. Excellent. Now in the top left hand quadrant of the page, and the bottom left quadrant, write the word ‘Indirect’. In the top right and bottom right quadrant go ahead and write the word ‘Direct’ Fantastic, now we can begin to fill in the info in each quadrant. Quadrant 1 (top left – Indirect Relationship) stands for the type of person that is into relationships, friendships and deep connections with people. They are the laid back, mellow, the easy going type that you would usually associate with a retro hippy hashish smoking tidied flower power 1960’s activist. I am not saying they all gargle with bong water on a daily basis, but am simply trying to portray an image. This group of people make up 40% of the population (which may back up the theory these are the weeds smokers of the world, but I digress). The colour I would paint this group with would be yellow, and the animal I would use to represent them would be the Koala bear (because even though they are soft and gentle natured they will come out fighting if they are backed into a corner) Quadrant 2 (top right – Direct Relationship) stands for the type of person that is fun going, the centre of attention, life of the party, outgoing and in your face. They are fast paced and always alert to new things going on and are definitely more of a risk taker. The type of person that is bouncing of the walls without the use of red bull, drugs and alcohol...I think. Anyway, this group make up 25% of the population and the colour they would come under would be Blue. The animal that best depicts this group would be the monkey that swings from tree to tree (or party to party). Quadrant 3 (Bottom left – Indirect Task) stands for the type of person that is not the quick decision maker, the data analyst type. You know the type I’m taking about don’t you? The ones who need to have proof, facts and figures, stats and documentation, who just constantly want more info. They can’t be challenged. This group of people make decisions slowly and change their minds slowly too. They make up 10% of the population, and colour they come under is green. The animal standing up for this corner would have to be the wise old owl. Quadrant 4 (Bottom right – Direct) stands for the power led, money motivated, financially driven, success orientated ‘just give me the ball so I can frikin run with it type’. Again I am sure you can imagine the type,.. Right? The ones who are quick to stab their fellow colleague in the back in the board room of either Donald Trump or Alan Sugar’s the apprentice show. They are very materialistic and conscious about what others think of them. This group make decisions quickly and are slow to change their minds, making up 25% of the population. Their colour is none other than red, and naturally the animal for them has to be ...the shark (because of their aggressive behaviours) In conclusion to the 4 personality temperaments of a relationship hopefully you have an insight into how people fit into certain quadrants. So the first thing to do is to look at yourself in the mirror, get into your best pose then work out which one you fit into. Then if you get into the habit of analysing people you come across and thinking which quadrant they fit into. After each encounter you can simply class them as a colour, or even the animal. It’s a great way to practise understanding personality temperaments, especially if you are involved with sales and Internet marketing. Imagine how effective you could be if you understood your prospect and adapted yourself to work on their level. Learn How To Sell To Anyone
