If you’re female, and you’ve heard about the wonders weight training can do for you while you’re trying to lose weight, but are still operating under the impression that hitting the weight room will have you looking like a guy in next to no time, there are two things you need to know. First, you can do weigh training without ever setting foot inside of a weight room; and second, the fact that you are female eliminates you from the gender with enough testosterone to develop those massive pecs and glutes. There go your excuses, so what will you get from weight training? You’ll get a streamlined body which has transformed its fatty deposits into lean muscle mass, with the added benefit that the new muscle tissue will help you burn more calories even when you are not physically active. You’ll also look like you have shed a good number of years as well as pounds. You’ll bid those flabby upper arms and undefined calf muscles farewell, and simply look like you are in great shape. Because you will be! If weight training doesn’t necessarily mean trips to the gym, what does it mean? You can choose from among four weight training methods, none of which will demand that you drop large amounts of coin on equipment. You can mix up these methods as you like, but the important thing is to get started and to make sure that each of your muscle groups is put to work. Resistance Bands Simple, and inexpensive, resistance band training is ideal if you want to do your weight training at home and are anxious to target some specific muscles. Resistance bands will even let you tone those tiny muscles which can get overlooked with other forms of weight training, simply because they are not easy to target. You can buy sets of resistance bands which will let you start with the more flexible ones and build up to the stiffer more resistance ones. Hand Weights Hand weights are part of the equipment in any gym’s weight training room, but you can also buy some dumbbells and use them at home. Maneuvering your hand weights will provide you with overall toning, and weight as little as half a kilo. One of the big advantages of using hand weights is that they will strengthen your skeletal support muscles, without bulking you up. They will also help you trim your body fat. Yoga Stretches You may never have considered yoga as a form of weight training, but yoga comes from a philosophical tradition which stresses mental as well as physical involvement in exercise, and some of the more complicated yoga positions will give your muscles a real workout. Other than a yoga mat, you do not need any special equipment to benefit from yoga stretches. Isometrics Isometrics are exercises in which you use the contract your muscles against an immovable object, pulling, pushing, or pressing in order to increase muscle tone. There is almost no movement involved in isometrics, and it is the strength of the muscle contractions which matters. Try sitting and putting your hands before you at chest level, pressing your palms together as if you were saying a pray. The pressure of your palms will work your pectoral muscles. Making a regular habit of any or all of these weight training methods will have a dramatic effect on your muscle tone. And you can get started on some of them immediately, or spend just a bit of money to get started on the others. So what’s stopping you? Want to look younger with the wrinkle cream that works?
