Tax time is here once again. All the accounting firms in Toronto and the GTA are busy with clients, T4’s and nanny tax. Important Nanny Tax Deadlines in Canada January 15 – Nanny Tax December remittance to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) January 31 – 4th quarter Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) remittance February 15 – Nanny Tax January remittance to CRA February 28 – T4 to caregiver – T4 and T4 Supplementary filed with CRA March 15 - Nanny Tax February remittance to CRA April 15 - - Nanny Tax March remittance to CRA April 30 – 1st quarter WSIB remittance – Employee’s T1 Personal Tax Return filed with CRA May 15 - Nanny Tax April remittance to CRA June 15 - Nanny Tax May remittance to CRA July 15 - Nanny Tax June remittance to CRA July 31 – 2nd quarter WSIB remittance August 15 - Nanny Tax July remittance to CRA September 15 - Nanny Tax August remittance to CRA October 15 - Nanny Tax September remittance to CRA October 31 – 3rd quarter WSIB remittance November 15 - Nanny Tax October remittance to CRA December 15 - Nanny Tax November remittance to CRA You must file your nanny taxes and WSIB premiums by the due date. If you file after that date, you may have to pay penalties and interest. There is one thing to be aware of something and another to act on it. As you can see from the list above it is mandatory to monthly remit your nanny taxes. There are some people who hire nannies and do not remit to the CRA and unfortunately get penalized.
