The dates above mark the ending of a quiet, subjective cycle. Saturn at that point finished its transit through the 1st, most subjective quadrant of your child's chart. (This may not apply for Newborns) The dates show when Saturn entered the 4th house and the 2nd quadrant. The 4th house is a one of the four "ANGULAR" houses. Angular houses are "action" houses and point to the "shifting of gears." Saturn entering this house marked the beginning of a seven year period of greater self-expression for your child. The fourth house relates to the sign Cancer (see the wheel called "Houses in Childhood" at the beginning of the report) and deals with family life and security. The child is now laying her foundation for later success. Family support and harmony in the environment are strong plus factors during this critical period. Changes in residence could effect her deeply at this time, for better or for worse. This is when the child must "establish" a strong sense of self-worth. If she feels secure, she is likely to become increasingly more confident and outgoing during the next few years. She is apt to be more social, tending to reach out more to others as this phase progresses. During this phase, the child must learn self-discipline, creative self-expression and good work, studying and eating habits. Saturn's transit through the 2nd quadrant lasts six or seven years. The Elements, Modalities, and Angularity ----------------------------------------------------------- Elements, modalities, and house quadrants. These are all techniques used by astrologers to gain a general picture of energy patterns and focus, temperament and modes of action. How does your child's planets and houses total up? Which does she have in abundance, and which does she lack, if any? Those with high totals show what we can or must do in life; plus points to be developed. These are qualities we have. "Wants" are areas that may be weaker and need developing or balance. Sometimes people overcompensate the "wants" and even pretend to have them. The old adage is: we become what we want (or lack), while we do what we can (or have to do) with what we've got. Here are your child's totals: Your child's innate positivism lets her get right to the point! She may have little patience with those who are shilly-shally. She has plenty of enthusiasm and warms up to things and people quickly. Your child has an inner self-confidence which burns with its own light. Your child may have trouble understanding those who seem emotional or sentimental, yet her own practicality and intellectual approach may attract just such types into her life. She needs your guidance getting in touch with her feelings, and acknowledging those of others. She may try to balance her lack of empathy with logic and common sense. (A strong Moon, Venus or Neptune by sign, aspects and/or house position or a Water sign Ascendant could compensate.) Your child is apt to be communicative, flexible, mental, and other-oriented. She could be a natural teacher. She could be restless, liking plenty of variety. You may find that to enter whole-heartedly into any venture, your child's feelings need to be stirred. Love, ideals, and a strong sense of her own worth are vital to her sense of well-being. Your child could have difficulty getting outer recognition for her efforts or accomplishments. This doesn't mean they're worthless. It does mean she should throw her efforts into work or ventures she really loves doing. Patterns; Inner and Outer Self ----------------------------------------------------------- Here we are examining basic patterns, called astrological configurations, within your child's charts. These will reveal much about your child's basic attitude or approach to life. The more one studies astrology, the more it comes down to a basic understanding of these simple patterns. The configurations can provide valuable information as to the general direction of your child's life, and her mode of action. It is particularly interesting to note differences in comparing the Heliocentric and Geocentric patterns. While Heliocentric interpretations are still in an experimental stage, some modern astrologers suggest that a comparison of these patterns reveals the difference, if any, between our outer personality (the way we appear to others) and our real inner self; how are we, in fact, as people get to know us? Not all people are as they seem. Your child may not be what she appears to be. Her personality, the way the world sees her, appears more independent and outgoing than is the case when people get to know her. An extroverted manner screens a more inward and quiet-seeking self. In other words, she is much more sensitive and concerned about what others think than meets the eye. Although her outer personality may look tough and self-centered, she is more sensitive to the needs and feelings of others than she may let on. Whereas her appearance and personality may bring her unwanted attention, the real "me" prefers to stay out of the limelight. Appearances aside, let's take a look at the real or inner child.
