Which delicious chicken recipe do you prefer? One that goes on and on about how the culinary world benefited from this bird or one that provides a systematic way to prepare the dish? Maybe you would be riveted by the extensive literature, but at the cost of your motive: your hunger! The same can be said about picky readers namely business folk. They don't have time to go through that many words; their source of information has to be short and to the point. Press releases are their source of information. If written well, these little snippets of news have the ability to convey a ton of information to the busy reader. The topics range from new releases to special occasions that have made the news. PR writers need to hone some skills in order to ensure that their company's PR lands on the first page of search engines: Don't beat around the bush The title, introduction and summary of you press release has to grab the attention of the reader immediately. Remember, you are supposed to be announcing newsworthy information. You must have noticed this while reading the newspaper. They know what it takes to grab the reader's attention. Emulate their technique in your own press release to make it more cohesive. Successfully integrating this technique can translate into more business for your company. Avoid Sales pitches If people liked wasting time on commercials, they would not flip to other channels to avoid them. Same is the case with your press release. It's true that the purpose of PR campaigns is to promote your company, but that does not mean that you just have to promote it in an enthusiastic manner. Save that energy for blogs. Incorporate a simple and even tone for your PR and make sure that the sentences aren't too long either. Keep the body no more than 350 or 500 words to keep targeted readers fixated till the end. Long press releases will NOT be read. A good way to make it more interesting is to include quotes from influential people in your PR. Readers will be more likely to buy from you if they see others are satisfied with your brand. Remember, your PR represents the image you want your brand or company to portray. Short sentences require an extensive vocabulary to make them appealing to the reader.
