It's the bit that most contestants hate about entering contests. The part where you actually have to use some skill rather than pick the one obvious answer out of the three or four you've been given. The dreaded part where it asks you to say something "in 25 words or less." That number may be different - it could be ten, twelve or twenty words for instance - but it's still the moment where your brain freezes like a deer in headlights. This section is probably the most important of any part of the contest. There's a good chance that the questions have been dumbed down enough that you don't even need to check the answers on Wikipedia - they'll be staring you in the face in the Google results. After all, if the questions weren't easy, why would they need a tie breaker? Here are some quick tips to boost your chance of winning that competition. 1. Read what you have to do This sounds blindingly obvious. But it's also eminently missable. You go into automatic mode and answer what it was you thought they wanted you to complete rather than the actual part of the contest. So re-read the part where the contest says to complete in 25 words or less. Make sure it makes sense and that you complete it properly. 2. Learn to count Unlike your English teacher at school, who really meant 4 sheets of paper regardless of the size of your handwriting instead of the 1,500 words they asked for, contests really do mean it when they say something like 25 words or less. Think about it - that's the first disqualifier and they don't even have to read your carefully crafted masterpiece. 3. Make every word count Hmm. This is getting worse! It's not like writing an article like this one, where I can pad it out and use "filler" words left, right and center. If you absolutely must make every single word count. Mark Twain famously said "I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead." And that's so true. When you're slaving over every single word like a master chef making their signature creation, it takes longer. One of the easiest ways to do this is to write more words to start with, let them rest on the paper or screen for a few hours, then go back with a virtual scalpel and cut out any word that isn't paying its way. Then - as they say on all the best shampoo bottles - rinse and repeat. Which means go back over your words in a few hours time and question the purpose of every single word that's left. All of that sounds like a lot of effort to just write the tie breaker for a contest but it's almost certainly going to make a big difference to your chances. Most of the other contestants won't go to that much trouble to write a concise tie breaker answer. Which gives you a better chance of winning! buy essay
