This is the season and here in the South of Spain we will be reaching an average temperature of around 30c in the coming month. This means it is time to plan the first pool party to kick off Bikini Season. I don't want to surprise my guests with a last minute bring your own bikini party at the start of swimwear season that would just be mean. I will be sending the invitations out one month in advance, mid season is another story. Always make sure to specify in the invitation what guests should bring. Here are some etiquette tips for both hosting and attending a pool party. Guests should not expect the host to supply towels, sunscreen or bathing suits even if the host is a swimwear designer. However, the host should be prepared with extra towels and sunscreen on hand. You should also pack lip balm, a sun hat, sunglasses, hair ties, comb, make-up remover, after sun lotion, flip flops and a cover up. IT IS A MAJOR FAUX PAS to whip someone with a towel but somehow when you combine sun, alcohol and what else but towels it is always a danger. Diving off of someone's shoulders, splashing excessive amounts of pool water on the deck or over exposing yourself are also not appropriate. Do not serve heavy alcohol or over consume because the combination of sun, booze and a large body of water is not a good one and could end badly if not monitored. Supply lots of fruit and water to keep guests hydrated. It is a good idea to hire a lifeguard which also adds ambiance and decor to the theme while protecting serious accidents from occurring which would quickly put an end to your party and probably any future pool parties. There should be no eating in the pool and preferably no drinking either. This can be reinforced by the lifeguard leaving you to charm your guests and someone else to scold misbehavior, dangerous horseplay and over excessive drinking and swimming. As with any party prepare a play list of fun music that everyone can enjoy leaving you. Reserve a shaded area for guests to enjoy their refreshments. DO NOT STARE whether someone is looking great or not, be discreet and subtle. There is nothing worse than OGLING or being OGLED. Don't bake in the sun, if you burn you will be uncomfortable and the pictures will not turn out well. I thank them by treating them to a luxurious pair of shades with a protective lens. Even when the sun is not blaring which here in the Mediterranean is most often is. I wear my sunglasses because the UV rays are there regardless. Even in the office when I am on the computer. Granted sometimes my office is poolside under an umbrella with my laptop. The only thing missing those days is a hunky pool boy but then I wonder how much work would actually be accomplished. I could enjoy the view without obviously ogling that is for sure which brings me to the next point. A dark or mirrored lens is always best when considering glasses. It reduces a lot of the strain and looks umber cool. Here the author Harris Symonds says about swimwear 2011. For more details please visit www.bisou-b.com.
