MEATH captain, Darren Fay will not find himself in trouble with the GAA for entering into a private endorsement arrangement with a Navan-based flooring company. The GAA yesterday issued a statement, stating that the deal was consistent with the Association’s policy on advertising and endorsements. A commercial agent is to be appointed by the GAA later this month to co-ordinate deals between players and companies. “This provides for formal structure and dynamic to facilitate many more players benefiting from product endorsements and commercial appearances. “The agent’s brief will be to act as a commercial liaison person with players to maximise commercial income within the agreed policies of the GAA’s amateur status report,” says the statement. Under the new arrangements players will be obliged to divide 50 per cent of any monies earned from endorsements between a players’ fund (30%), County Board (10%) and injured players’ fund (10%). LEINSTER JFC SEMI-FINAL DUBLIN v LOUTH, Croke Park 2.30 LAST year’s beaten Leinster finalists Dublin will go in to Sunday’s encounter with Louth knowing full sure that a second consecutive final is within their reach – provided they respond well to their first serious outing in the current campaign. After futile outings against Carlow and Kilkenny (they conceded the grand total of 0-2), Dublin have done what has so far been asked of them. There is little doubt, however, that they will find a Louth team that squeezed past Westmeath a different proposition entirely. After Meath’s shock exit against Wexford in the quarter-finals, there should be no chance of the Dubs underestimating the threat posed by the Wee County and if they get to grips with Louth early on, the attacking potential of Ciaran McGuinness and Anthony Briody should be enough to carry them through. Verdict: Dublin GOLF: Angry Lehman TOM LEHMAN has returned fire on Mark James, blasting last year’s European Ryder Cup captain over his controversial book `Into the Bear Pit’. In the book, James slams Lehman for running onto the 17th green after Justin Leonard holed the long putt at Brookline which all but sealed the Ryder Cup for the US. “Calls himself a man of God. That was the most disgraceful thing I’ve ever seen,” James writes of Lehman. Lehman is a devout Christian but he’s no longer prepared to turn the other cheek. “I think it’s really low class,” he said after the first round at the Kemper Open, unable to bite his tongue any longer. “I hope he (James) feels good about it. I guess every good story needs a villain and I’m glad he’s found one in me. “I hope he feels good about making money off taking shots at other people’s character and integrity. “And I think he ought to be proud that he’s dragging the Ryder Cup through the muck. I hope he’s very proud of himself. “I’m a little angry. I think it’s crazy. If that’s what he thinks is best, that’s his decision,” Lehman declared. Super Horton NEIL COLES has played some wonderful rounds of golf in his time but few can compare with the six-under par 66 which he returned during the first round of the Microlease Jersey Open at La Moye yesterday. It was a score that gave him a two-shot lead over America’s Ray Carrasco and a three-shot advantage over a quartet comprising England’s Jim Rose, America’s Jay Horton, South Africa’s Tiene Brits and Welshman, Brian Huggett. Joe McDermott finished the round as the leading Irish golfer after recording a level par 72. Meanwhile, Australia’s Corinne Dibnah shot a 73 to lead on three under 141 at halfway, but England’s defending champion Laura Davies kept in touch with a battling 70 in the second round of the Chrysler Open at Halmstad in Sweden yesterday. all golf city online golf clubs This article is http://www.decembergolf.com/ Also, We recommend some good top golf clubs to you.
