If you have just installed new carpeting in your home you are probably trying to come up with ways to help maintain the beauty of your new flooring as well as keep them clean daily. Depending on your colour choice, carpets are not easily kept clean on their own. It will require some attention and work on your part to make sure that they continue to look their best which in turn will give you years of beautiful carpeting in your home without the worries or needs to have them replaced. There will be several things that you will be able to do to keep your carpets looking their best. Here are five good tips to help keep carpets looking new and clean for many years to come. ? Maintenance is important for carpet fibers Rugs are a great way to help keep your carpets looking their best. You will find that there are many places where you can place an area rug down in your home that will not only compliment the look of your new carpet but will also absorb most of the foot traffic that goes through your home. If you have an area in the home where most of the family has to walk through on a regular basis you may find that this area of the carpet may get worn down more quickly than the rest of the home’s carpeting. By placing down a rug in this area you will find that they will help prevent uneven wear on your carpeting. Rugs are usually inexpensive and can be bought in different sizes, colours, and shapes so you will be able to find the right size for your home. Places where you may want to consider placing rugs down to help maintain the look of your carpets would be a hallway, staircase, kitchen or anywhere else in the home where you find that there is a high concentration of traffic that could lead to damaging your new carpeting in your home. Many times when you first get new carpeting in your home you may feel the need to constantly vacuum. While vacuuming is good for carpets because it helps revive the fibers on the carpet and loosen them up so they begin to have a natural breathing cycle to them, if you are over vacuuming your carpets you may be doing more harm than good for them. It is true that each time you vacuum your carpets you are pulling up very small amounts of fiber from the carpets which over time will lead to the deterioration of the carpets. Many carpets have a certain limited warranty to them so you know about how long you can expect your carpets to maintain their look and feel to them, but if you are vacuuming them every day to help keep them clean then you may be doing more harm than good. The benefits of vacuuming your carpets are there though so keeping them clean is very important, especially if you have someone who is suffering from allergies or breathing issues in the home. A lot of dust and dirt which aggravate asthma and other breathing issues for some people can be annoying so if you must vacuum more than once a week try to pick out a vacuum cleaner that has good filters that will not put the dirt and dust back into the air. Welcome mats or door mats would be a great way to help protect your carpets and keep them looking their best. A door mat which thick fibers that can trap dirt and other debris before it is even brought into your home is the best way to maintain that new look on your carpets. With so many different options with mats these days you will find that there are different sizes available, colours, and shapes so finding one that will best fit your personality as well as needs will be easy. You can shop online for certain items like door mats and find some really cute ideas and great savings. It doesn’t matter if you are a cat lover, dog lover, bird lover, or just like to have a funny catch phrase at your front door you will find the perfect welcome mat for your home. Remember when you are buying a welcome mat for your main entry point to your home that if you have a back door or other area of the home where people may walk into your home, you will want to have a door mat located there as well. It is also a good idea to place a small rug or mat down at the interior point of the door way as well so you will want to have a welcome mat at the exterior of the entry point and a welcome mat at the interior of the entry point as well. Remember that accidents will happen. Whether you have pets, children, or just friends over, occasionally there will be spills on your carpets. You want to access the spill immediately and always try to blot out the stain not rub it into the fibers. If it is dirt or mud that has been on the carpet cleaning this up fresh may not be your best option. Perhaps letting these types of accidents dry and vacuuming them up might work best. It is also a good idea to have your carpets professionally cleaned to keep them looking their best as well. Over time your carpets will begin to lose colour and texture so getting them professionally steam cleaned will help rejuvenate your carpet’s fibers and make the entire house smell clean and fresh. These are just a few simple things that you can do to help keep your new carpets looking their best for many years to come. You will find that there are also other ways to do so such as using protective shields and take into account if you have young children or pets living in the home with you.
