Sergio Garcia must have struggled to keep his temper in check during the first round of the St Jude Classic when he took an 11 at the par-5 third hole. To his credit he recovered nicely and shot a reasonably respectable 78. Except for the one hole his opening round wasn’t that bad, a par at that hole would have seen him seven shots behind the leaders. Of course that one hole was pretty bad. On the tee at the third he hit a 336-yard tee shot and proceeded to put three consecutive balls in the water. Garcia’s eighth shot then found a greenside bunker before he pitched out to just inside 13 feet and two-putted for an 11. The rest of his round was more tame with one birdie, one bogey and one double bogey on the par-4 15th after again finding the water short of the green on his approach shot. Garcia’s 11 was obviously the highest single-hole score on anyone’s scorecardin the first round at St Jude, but miraculously his 78 wasn’t the worst score of the day. Michael Connell shot a 79 that featured three double bogeys, four bogeys and one birdie. What impressed me the most was that he managed to keep his well-document temper in check and complete his round with a very respectable, in the circumstances, score. r9 712mb r11s This article is from http://www.24wholesalegolf.com/ More Wholesale Golf at http://www.24wholesalegolf.com/
