Sick children touch the hearts of all of us, and most of us will do what we can to help them. Bierstadt Climb – an event organized to raise money for the Heart Institute of Colorado Children’s Hospital. This beautiful piece is displayed on the site. A Few Facts: Each year, 40,000 children are born with one of 40+ different types of congenital heart disease/defects in the United States. Worldwide, this number reaches about 1,000,000. The cost for surgeries alone to repair some of these defects averages about $2.2 billion each year. Additional huge costs are incurred for those defects and diseases that cannot be repaired or cured by surgery. While deaths have declined by 30% over the past decade, there is still much work to be done, in both areas of research and in providing financial assistance to families whose children’s lives are at stake. At Digital Key Design, we understand the pain and anxiety of parents who must deal with their ill children. For this reason, we are enthusiastic in our support of the “Climbing for Kids” annual event, the importance of which cannot be underestimated. The American Heart Association provides only 1% of its receipts to children’s heart health, and it is therefore necessary that funds be found in other places.
