If the number of search results returned is less than 50,000, then keep the keyword. Or else, discard it. Rinse and repeat for all other keywords and you should end up with a list of keywords that have more than 1000 searches and less than 50,000 competing sites, which means enough demand, yet easy to rank for at the same time.
