Creating a website entails not only hours of planning but brainstorming from web designers, developers and content experts. From here, you could make expectations from your content to the overall appearance and usability of your own website.

2. Know your users/website visitors

One of the reasons why you are making a site is for people to visit your website. Though this is the rough draft that you have in mind, you have to make a concrete target readership, audience or market (if you are selling anything online). You would want the keywords to be directed on your specific market so that you could maximize the use of the Search Engines.

3. Think about web usability.

What is the purpose of your site if people can't navigate through it? Before you make your website, you need to think about your user's perspective. How users navigate your website. Aesthetic design of the website is just one aspect of building a website. Talking with your website developer about making your website usable, accessible and useful is important in building an effective website.

4. Structure or re-structure your website architecture and target audience.

Aside from usability, you need to be flexible in terms of your website's overall look and architecture. Having an open mind with site updates and accepting website changes allow your site to progress with technology and give your users a fresh look. You may change not only your background but even your theme and overall design.

5. Test your website speed.

Since everyone these days are getting a following not only through email but also through social networking sites, it is important that you make use of Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and many other social sites that function mainly for modern day communication and online interaction. Using social media cannot bring you income to your business right away, but it will open a communication between you and your customers.

8. Make interactions or get people involved.

One of the best ways to get a reaction is by triggering one. You need to make sure that you use the Facebook to get a poll on how they want your product or basically anything under the sun. You may even give away products by creating an online campaign to get people to know your site.

9. Make call to actions clear.

It is important that you are relaying your message clearly to the other party. For instance, if you have discounts and you want them to buy certain products with discounts; you need to clarify which items are covered by the said discount. This way, you don't increase confusion on the part of the buyers.

10. Monitor, Measure and Improve.

Monitoring the website's traffic is one of the most ignored marketing tools by most business owners. Having the knowledge of your website's visitors is vital in online marketing. Using traffic analytics, you will be able to know your visitor's demographics and how did they came to your site. Measuring your website's traffic will help you recognize the keywords that are used and determine if your target market is met. Last but not the least, once you have taken the measures in monitoring and measuring your website's traffic, continue to improve your website's visibility with relevant back links, updating your website with new content at least 3 times a month and interact in your social pages.
