A certified nurse aide, who works in oncology department of a health organization, is known as Oncology CNA. The oncology nurse aides are responsible to provide basic health care to a cancer patient. They also manage patient’s call, communicate physicians, administer medication and provide emotional support to patient. The oncology department is specially developed in hospitals to treat patients suffering from cancer. The unit provides patients new and advanced treatment methods to cure them effectively. Oncology nursing programs are specially designed to make candidates perfect in oncology treatment ethics. In addition, the programs provide students significant knowledge of advance health assessment and genetic counseling. Besides this, any certified nurse aide who has an experience of working in oncology unit of a health care facility can also perform as an oncology CNA. Further, Bachelor of Science in nursing and Registered Nurse are also allowed to work in oncology field. An oncology CNA is allowed to perform in a medical unit that is specially designed for cancer patients. As an oncology nurse aide a health care professional is responsible for following nursing jobs: Basic Nursing Care: Oncology CNA job duties covers patient basic health care such as bathing, feeding and grooming and help patients in daily activities. Patient’s mobility: The oncology nurse aides are responsible to transfer patients from one medical unit to another for further treatment and procedure, also they help patient in movement if required. Perform EKGs: An oncology CNA also performs as an electrocardiogram technician. They perform diagnostic tests of a patient to access heart rate. Bedside care: Preparing bed, managing bed sores and other bedtime treatment are also come in oncology CNA’s job duties. In addition, the managing of patient’s bedtime requirements also comes in oncology CNA job duties. Lab testing: oncology nurse aides also take blood sample and take vital signs. Further, they check patient’s BP and temperature. Also they measure patient’s height and weight. Medication: The oncology CNA provides patients proper medication. They are responsible to maintain a record of patient’s medical report and treatment. The oncology CNAs are also advised to communicate seniors about patient’s medication if necessary. Emotional support: The patient suffering from cancer faces a threatening condition at the time of his illness, thus it is necessary that the emotional support must be provided an oncology nurse aide.
