Among all the forms of literary art ever known to people it is poetry that gives talented writers most opportunities for discovering all the sides of their creativity and imagination, as the variety of genres and styles, patterns and rhyming schemes provides much space for expressing one's most genuine feelings and bravest thoughts in verses and lines. Or you could do without rhymes at all – free verse is very much favored by keen appreciators of contemporary poetry and gains rapidly growing popularity among poetry publishers. But no matter if you stick to traditional fixed forms or urban poetry (or maybe your vocation is writing song lyrics at all), you are no way limited in finding new and absolutely outstanding ways of getting heard by experimenting with the language, creating your own new words, generating poignant epithets, brusque comparisons and vivid unusual metaphors. No matter what you are writing about, love, politics, social issues or total randomness, you have all the chances to be appreciated since you touch the hearts of the audience and get your readers thinking about what is actually important and worthy of their attention. For readers, in turn, poetry is a great way of finding comfort, sympathy and inspiration. For instance, an insightful and heartfelt verse written by a poet about themselves and their own life will help thousands of people who are experiencing the same see that they are not alone, that someone has gone through that just as well and even observe the encouragement to move forward despite all the obstacles, to reveal their inner strength. Moreover, such a poem can give one a good hint for a possible solution or even make them look at everything from a different angle – fate and fortune always come in turn, you can find piece even in melancholy, and a story that first seems to be tragic may turn out to be beautiful – as they say, a beautiful disaster. Needless to say, good poetry has changed the lives of many people, retrieving their hope, just as well as other literary genres, music or the theater – that is the power of words! Those who write sociopolitical poetry have a not less important social role – like I say about a decent amount of my own literary pieces, they “create to destroy”. To destroy the naive beliefs. To destroy the stereotypes. Indeed, when the truth is penned in such a way that people just cannot stay indifferent they open their eyes to it and begin to contemplate which is most likely to make them act after all. So, if you are an aspiring poet who wants to be proud of playing such a significant part in both social and cultural life, be ready for many years of hard work. Getting respected, recognized and published will take you much time and effort – I know that from my very own experience. So don't worry if you lack experience and skill, you can still refine it and get better if you feel that poetry is what you are carved for ad really have something to say to the world. For those beginning poets willing to learn, some easy yet useful tips may be very to the purpose. The first of them is reading as much poetry as possible – both classic and contemporary, of young authors and established ones – it is a perfect source for inspiration as well as bright examples of what such concepts as a structure, syllable count, rhyming scheme stand for and what basic rules should be always followed. Then, it is very important to get feedback from those more experienced than you. An effective way of combining both reading someone else's poetry and getting yours reviewed is signing up for a couple serious poetry workshops. However, be sure you opt for stable and trusted resources rather than another amateur society – carefully browse them and, if possible, get acquainted with other users' opinions before you join. And be ready that sometimes severe critics will be too harsh on your work, nevertheless, don't be discouraged and politely ask them to explain what is wrong and what way it can be improved. And the last but not the least – just be yourself! Be sincere, express your ideas in the most extraordinary ways and never be afraid to experiment with the language (as long as you are sure you will be understood). The results won't keep you waiting, only don't give up when you come across any possible hardships. Remember, it took me five years to become a recognized poet... I thought I had no talent at all, but my desire, perseverance and will got me that far; my dreams of being published, performing on the stage, being broadcast on the radio and TV finally came true, so don't be afraid to dream large and put much effort into making them come true. I assure you, success will be on the way!
