The sport of Rugby is a brutal and hard hitting sport where warriors of field do battle putting everything on the line to make sure the ball gets over that all important try line. This one is not for the faint hearted or the frail bodied as every player on the field is expected to take the hit, bounce straight back up and get on with the game. Fairy boy footballer style theatrics are not only frowned upon but actively punished - this sport is one full of big hits and mean tackles and it is one of the most exhilarating team sports you can play. There is a sense of brotherhood, bravado and camaraderie which comes with Rugby as 15 players get up close and personal with the opposing 15 and do their best to hammer them into submission. The game has two schools: Rugby League and Rugby Union. The emphasis in both games is to find the gaps in the opposing team’s defence, get the overlapping player and hammer home the advantage with a glorious charge to the try line. One must first overcome said defence however and this is no mean feat as each one of those 15 players will be looking to hit you as hard as they can so that you think twice about charging in so wantonly next time. Nowhere is this more evident than in Rugby League in which the attacking team has to get to the try line in 6 tackles or less as they must turn the ball over to the opposing team once those 6 tackles are up. Charging into the defending line then is the name of the game and, as mentioned above, the opposing team will be trying to hit you as hard as they can to make you think twice about doing the same again. In such a brutal and hard hitting sport injuries are to be expected but there are surprisingly few serious injuries for a sport which is all about putting your opponent on the floor. It can be a major worry when such injuries do occur as they can be very serious. As a precautionary measure it can be a very wise decision to take out a specialist insurance policy for yourself or your whole team as such policies offer the very best in medical care and will enable you to play with peace of mind knowing that you will be in the most capable of hands should the worst happen. There are companies which offer many types of sports insurance such as rugby league insurance and insurance for footballers.
