The new 854E-E34TA jaw crusher engine now meets EU Stage IIIB requirements. This model, which offers ratings from 84.5 to 115hp, joins the existing line up of four- and six-cylinder engines in the 1200 Series range that meet the current emissions legislation. Stage IIIB in Europe, which came into effect for some engine power categories in January 2012, demands a significant reduction in the levels of particulate matter (PM) of up to 95 per cent, which is often achieved through the use of exhaust after-treatment systems. Perkins’ solution uses a combination of technologies, including a NOx Reduction System (NRS) and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Testing has revealed that the NRS/DPF pairing produces better fuel economy in customer applications compared to other technology solutions, the company states. A new range of six-cylinder EU Stage IV compliant engines has been launched, incorporating Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. Top of the range is the new, twin turbo, 1206F-E70TTA, a seven-litre, six-cylinder unit, capable of producing 300hp, giving OEMs who may previously have chosen a larger engine the choice of the same power from a smaller engine package. It features twin turbochargers mounted in series. The smaller first stage turbo accelerates quickly, giving improved low speed response and 1,280Nm of torque at 1,400rpm, while the larger second stage provides the high airflow required to provide class leading power density. For OEMs wanting lots of torque at low speeds the new, single turbo, 1206F-E70TA offers up to 202hp at 2,200rpm with maximum torque of 870Nm at 1,400rpm. “We are effectively meeting legislative requirements without penalising the OEM or end user. In fact, we are working to make things more advantageous including better fluid consumption, lower life costs and improved machine productivity while contributing to a cleaner environment,” comments Perkins Tier 4 product marketing manager, Daniel Clayton. Perkins has also introduced four-cylinder EU Stage IV compliant engines, using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. The 1204F, 4.4-litre, four-cylinder aftercooled engine is offered in a choice of two versions. The single turbo aftercooled 1204F-E44TA produces 147hp, delivering improved fuel economy, power and torque. The twin turbo, aftercooled model – the 1204F-E44TTA – has powers up to 175hp and employs twin turbochargers mounted in series, for extra power density, low speed torque and faster transient response.
